Smart Shopping Trolley with Automated Billing

ABSTRACT

With the exponential growth of online shopping, supermarkets are becoming more and more unpopular. One of the reasons behind this is the tedious task of waiting in lines to get all products billed. The Smart Shopping Trolley with Automated Billing system is designed to help with automatic billing in supermarkets. It consists of an RFID module, Arduino, LCD and ultrasonic sensor. The RFID tag reader reads the tags on the products and displays their price on the LCD (Liquid Crystal Display) screen. The products can be added or removed from the card and the cost is added or subtracted accordingly. Upon pressing a push button attached to the trolley, the total amount to be paid will be shown on the LCD screen. In case of an accidental dropping of an item, a buzzer sound will be heard to warn the customer.
