Author Name : Dr. Samriti
ABSTRACT
Education is a purposeful activity directed at achieving certain aims, such as transmitting knowledge or fostering skills and character traits. Types of education are commonly divided into formal, non-formal, and informal education. In most regions, formal education is compulsory up to a certain age and commonly divided into educational stages such as kindergarten, primary school and secondary school. Primary children means the education which is given to those children who fall in the age group of 6-14. Education in India is provided by the public sector as well as private sector.Government run schools have very poor quality of education. The quality standards and learning outcomes continue to plummet in government schools at an alarming rate. This has been clearly recorded by the Annual Status of Education Report – 2014. The present research seeks to compare the academic performance of students studying in government and private primary schools. Thus the purpose of the study is to examine that why parents send their children in private schools despite the tuition fee is higher than the government schools.
