A Review of Passive Optical Networks and various Compensation Techniques for Performance Enhancements

ABSTRACT : Passive Optical Networks (PONs), designed by Full Service Access Network (FSAN) working group, is the converged infrastructure standardized by ITU and IEEE. PON are the most imperative class of fiber access systems in the world today. This article reviews various PON architecture, various PON standards and types of PON. This paper also provides a survey of related work for various compensation techniques.
