A Review on Ace-2 Receptor: An Approach for Treating Covid-19
Author Name : P.S.N. Sri Bala*, Muskan, Hameeda Begum, Dr. Anupama Koneru
ABSTRACT Coronavirus is a family of viruses ,that can cause mild to severe illness such as MERS-COV and SARS-COV , which was discovered to share similarities with the SARS-COV that caused the 2002 SARS pandemic.. The major receptor for SARS COV-2 in producing COVID-19 is thought to be Angiotensin converting enzyme-2(ACE-2). ACE-2 is a key receptor that mediates the viral entrance of SARS COV -2 onto the host receptor, resulting in COVID-19. Angiotensinconverting enzyme 2 (ACE2) can be found in the cell membranes of heart, kidney, lungs, arteries, and intestines. The interaction of ACE-2 with Coronavirus spike proteins (s1 and s2 subunits) is critical for viral entrance into host cells and subsequent coronavirus infection.
