A Study on Effectiveness of Employee Onboarding Process

ABSTRACT Onboarding, traditionally induction, also known as organizational socialization, is to make the new employees comfortable in the new environment they have joined. It refers to the mechanism through which new employees acquire the necessary knowledge, skills, and behaviors to become effective organizational members and insiders. The present study was undertaken to find out the experience of the new hire’s during their onboarding i.e. their induction and their outlook towards their superiors, peers and friends. The primary objective of the study is to understand the effectiveness of on-boarding process in a BPO in Chennai. Questionnaire was used as a tool to collect the primary data from the new hires with experience of 1 to 3 months. The sampling method is Census method, as the entire population has been chosen for study. The total population of this study was 85. The collected data has been analyzed through frequency distribution, weighted average method, chi-square and correlation. Based on the result of analysis, suggestions and recommendations were provided to the organization.
