It is always very interesting to study the charatertistics of the language of young children. Early language acquisition studies, suggest the importance of speaking in language development. Among the four most important skills of the language, speaking becomes the most vital in our day-to-day activities. In the field of foreign language learning, speaking proficiency becomes one of the challenges for the learners in order to achieve native-like speaking skills. This study focuses on the enhancing of speaking skills of Indian learners learning Korean as a foreign language. It draws a historical map, marking the beginning of Korean language education at Jawaharlal Nehru University and its expansion in Delhi University, EFLU, Amity University, Central University of Jharkand, Manipur University and many other Institutes in India. Bringout the relevant data about the students and teacher’s demographic background, learning style, teaching models and evaluation methods, it tries to update us with the current status of Korean language education in India. It also proposes ‘ESI Model’1 as a suggestive model for teaching and learning of Spoken Korean for Indian learners, based upon the lerning strategies and styles of our Indian students. The proposed model is a comprehensive teaching model specially designed for the need and demand of the Indian learners.
