An Appraisal of Post-Independence Dairy Development in India

ABSTRACT
India is the largest producer of milk in the country. Indian dairy farming is basically game of the small rural marginal farmers that possess little land, as the dairying mainly performed by the farmer as anauxiliary activity along with the cropping, also the animals feed the crop residuals mostly. The different dairying activities are being carrying out by the informal sector that is through the middlemen. Operation flood made the country first in the milk production, that started after independence when the country was in desperate hunger.
