Analysis of White-Collar Crimes in Medical Profession with Special Reference to Observations By Lentin Commission Report

ABSTRACT
The profession which is considered as the most holy & important profession across the globe is Medical Profession. During this Corona virus pandemic, medical professionals have contributed significantly to the welfare of the Indian Society. Actually, one of the most important sectors of an economy, the health sector attracts some of the finest talent a nation can deliver. For those with a desire to serve society and a desire to avoid human misery, in addition to the numerous monetary rewards, the prospect is enticing to save life and to serve humanity. That is why medicine is recognized as the "the most noble of all professions" and physicians and nurses are among the community's most esteemed and trusted. Sad to say that, some health care professionals deviate from their Hippocratic Oath and indulge in capitalizing health care services and other forms of medical negligence. This form of professional deviance was pointed out in the observations of the Lentin Commission which has been dealt with in the paper briefly. These serious issues amounting to white collar crimes have been discussed in this paper.
