Assessing the Quality Life in Lung Cancer Patients: Tertiary Cancer Hospital

ABSTRACT: The study explore factors such as symptom management, psychological support, and the overall impact of lung cancer on the daily lives of patients within the specialized setting of a tertiary hospital. To examine the symptoms, different demographic factors to quality of life (QOL), and to assess symptomatic status and Emotional well being status in lung cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy and radiotherapy. An ambidirectional observational study which includes 71 lung cancer patients from Government General Hospitals in south India who are receiving chemotherapy and radiation therapy. To evaluate quality of life, two questionnaires are used: the self-designed questionnaire and the EORTC Quality of Life Questionnaire Core 30-item (QLQ-C30).high mean score. Our results shown, there is significant association with Symptomatic status and Emotional well being status with before and after treatment with p-value < 0.001.Identified characteristics impacting quality of life (QOL) and presented data to support the design of an intervention to improve QOL in patients with lung cancer receiving radiation and chemotherapy.
