Assessment of Level of Knowledge on Tetanus Diphtheria (Td) Vaccine among Mothers in Chengalpattu District, Tamilnadu, India

ABSTRACT Tetanus and diphtheria (Td)vaccine to prevent the disease tetanus and diphtheria. Tetanus and diphtheria disease influence children life. Tetanus and diphtheria can lead a hospitalization or even cause a death. Since1998, WHO recommended that TT vaccine should be replaced by Td vaccine. Td vaccine used for all age groups including pregnant women. The objectives of the study to assess the existing level of knowledge on Td vaccine among mothers, to find out association between demographic variables and level of knowledge of mothers on Td vaccine. A purposive sampling technique is used to collect samples. The sample size was 120 mothers are selected. The knowledge on Td vaccine among mothers assessed by questionnaire. The results show that 63(52.1%)of mothers were inadequate knowledge, 52(43.0%) of mothers were moderate knowledge, 6(5.0) mothers were adequate knowledge.
