Assessment of Students Adaptation to New Environment in a Selected Residential College, Kanchipuram dist. Tamilnadu, India

ABSTRACT A descriptive Study on Assessment of Student adaptation to new environment among first year residential college students, in a selected College, Kanchipuram (dist), Tamil Nadu. The objectives were to assess the student’s adaptation level to new environment and to find out the association between the demographic variables such as age, gender, type of family, family income, area of residence, kind of recreational activity, supportive systems, food, and visiting others. The study was conducted in AMET University, Karapakkam, kanchipuram district. The sampling technique was non probability, purposive sampling technique with 80 samples of first year residential college students. Thecollege adjustment test scale were used to assess students adaptation to new environment and the demographic variables Performa, structured interview schedule to collect data through E-mail. The data collection tools were validated and reliability was established. The data collection for the main study was done. The collected data was tabulated and analyzed, using descriptive and inferential statistics. The student adaptation mean value is 80.01.
