ABSTRACT: In our increasingly intelligent world, the Automated Zebra Crossing project stands out as a solution to pressing urban challenges, particularly in pedestrian safety and traffic management. This project leverages Arduino technology to revolutionize traditional zebra crossings, making them more responsive and adaptable to urban environments. At its core, Arduino is a platform that combines open-source hardware and software to create digital devices and interactive systems. It comprises a microcontroller board and an easy-to-use integrated development environment (IDE) for programming and controlling the board. The Automated Zebra Crossing system integrates Arduino, a servo motor, and lights for signalling. A key feature of this system is a barrier placed behind the zebra crossing, acting as a gate that prevents vehicles from crossing the zebra crossing line. The barrier's operation is synchronized with the traffic lights: it closes when the light is red and opens when the light turns green. This functionality is achieved using servo motors.
