ABSTRACT Blockchain has emerged as a transformative technology in the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) industry, offering solutions to critical issues such as data privacy, security, and integrity. Since the publication of Bitcoin's white paper by Satoshi Nakamoto in 2008, blockchain has revolutionized financial transactions by eliminating the need for a trusted third party. Beyond cryptocurrencies, blockchain has evolved through multiple phases, leading to applications in various sectors, including healthcare. Electronic Health Records (EHRs) are a critical component of modern healthcare, ensuring seamless information exchange among professionals. However, traditional EHR systems face significant challenges such as data security, interoperability issues, and patient privacy concerns. This paper presents a comprehensive review of blockchainbased EHR management, analyzing its potential to enhance security, decentralization, and scalability. The study explores existing limitations of traditional EHR systems, including data fragmentation, privacy risks, and integrity challenges. Finally, the paper discusses future research directions to overcome scalability issues and facilitate widespread adoption of blockchain technology in healthcare.
