Conceptual Understanding of the Processes of Economic Growth and Regional Disparities

ABSTRACT

Several Studies has been conducted in the past to analyse the interregional differencesin the process of economic development, in these studies per capita income has often been treated as a surrogate for development. The relationship between the sectoral composition of regions and the growth rates of the output have also been gone into. The available literature has been grouped into sub-categories in this paper. This includes literature dealing with the theoretical base, economic growth at regional level and the studies which focus on inter-state disparities in India.
