Counter Naxalism Strategy and the Role of Government

ABSTRACT
The lack of social and economic development coupled with the lack of governance in the rural and tribal regions over a period of four decades has allowed the revolutionary communists to take advantage and grow the Maoist insurgency in India. It is a well-known fact that the Naxalite movement is continuing to persist in terms of spatial spread, intensity of violence, militarization and consolidation, ominous linkages with other subversive/secessionist groups and increased efforts to elicit mass support.
