Author Name : CH. Roop Sai, Dr. P. Siva Naga Sree, B. Venkata Siva Rao, T. Prince
ABSTRACT The potential applications of composite materials include aircraft wing design, landing gear, Airframe structures Engine components Satellite structures Rocket components Helicopter components and etc. focusing on weight reduction while maintaining structural integrity. Composite materials, comprising carbon fiber, Eglass fiber reinforced polymers (FRP) Conventional materials (metals, glass, wood, and concrete) when compared with conventional materials (metals, glass, wood, and concrete) exhibiting high structural performance. In this work CFRP are fabricated with thirty weight percentage and the samples were tested for tensile strength, bending, impact and hardness. These properties are utilized for FEM analysis. Using SOLIDWORKS for design and Ansys FEM for simulation, the properties of CFRP composites are evaluated for aircraft wing application. CFRP is having a tensile strengthand Bending strength81.01 x 10^7 MPa, 37.4×10^5 MPa Results showed that CFRP exhibits superior strength, stiffness, and tensile strength, mass reduction compared to metal matrix composites. This project contributes to the understanding of potential applications of fiber reinforced polymer composites and structural behaviour of aircraft wings, enabling optimized design solutions.
