ABSTRACT
There are many different industrial sectors like the timber sector, waste sector, mining sector, etc. are used for material handling. The common problems are faced by such above applications like under loading, overloading, loading time loss, traffic fines, etc. In most automobiles at present, the dashboard consists of a speedometer, odometer, temperature indicator, pressure indicator, and fuel gauges. There is no provision to indicate the load of the vehicle into the driver's cabin. The load on the vehicle is measured on a weighbridge. The project, Development of Onboard Weighing System Using Sensor in commercial vehicles to found success in solving this problem. In this project, the load in the vehicle is sensed and displayed on the LCD. In this project, the load cell is used as a sensing element. Two load cells were bonded onto the leaf spring at two different places. One load cell was bonded onto the right side to sense the load and another one was bonded on the left side. The wheat stone bridge is well suited for the measurement of small changes of resistance at the time of applying load. The strain gauge changes electrical resistance when it is slightly deformed by deflection of leaf spring. This produces a voltage signal that is proportional to the load. Then the signal is used to measure the weight of the vehicle. The output range of the strain gauge is in the order of very few millivolts. To process that succeeding section, it should be of the voltage range. By testing and experimental results, a look-up table is formed.
