Design of AC System and Energy Conservation of a Sports Complex

ABSTRACT There has been an increasing demand for sports facilities in urban areas recently. As a result of this, more attention is drawn towards not only the energy performance of these building topologies, but also creating a healthy indoor environment for its users. A high level of thermal discomfort was observed for this place during a late summer period when overheating is a concern. The field of HVAC systems designing is more technologically challenging than ever before and the challenge today lies in identifying the most appropriate energy efficient HVAC product. The design of the sports complex is performed according to the ASHRAE (American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers) standards.
