Development and evaluation of drug loaded bio micro Emulsion for ocular drug delivery system

Author Name : Divya Sharma

ABSTRACT The aim of this project was to develop and evaluate bio-microemulsions loaded with anti-glaucoma agent for ocular drug delivery. It’s already been stated that Microemulsions are clear, stable, isotropic mixtures of oil, water and surfactant, frequently in combination with a cosurfactant. Acetazolamide is a well known drug used to treat glaucoma, a condition in which increased pressure in the eye can lead to gradual loss of vision. Acetazolamide decreases the pressure in the eye. The purpose of this work is to isolate the biomaterial obtained from Ficus carica, to perform SEM/TEM analysis of isolated biomaterial and to formulate bio-microemulsion using biopolymer surfactant, Tween 80 as stabaliser; n-butanol as co-surfactant; Milk powder as dispersant; Tocopherol as anti-oxidising agent; Sodium alginate and methyl cellulose as standard polymer
