ABSTRACT
Road safety is a serious issue in today’s world. One of the most leading causes of road accidents is distraction and Inattention driving. Rapid increasing in numbers of vehicles on the road, stress level of drivers in traffic and even lethargic driving are few reasons for road accidents. It is important to monitor Driver’s state and necessary action should be taken within short time. So, we shall need a system that must come with every vehicle and if it detects any abnormal change such as drowsiness or inattention of driver to the road then it should trigger an alert and takes action for safe driving options. In our system, we detect the driver’s state by monitoring face and eye movements and triggers the alert when the driver is not in normal state. In addition to this, life of driver as well as neighbouring vehicles, pedestrians are also important. We propose a system that monitors and provide alertness to the driver. If it continues it’ll slow down the vehicle, switches to auto pilot mode, reduce the speed of the vehicle and finds the gap to the left side of vehicle for the safe parking using Ultrasonic sensors mounted on the vehicle. Once the vehicle is safely parked without any disturbance to other vehicles, a message regarding location and condition of driver is sent to concern person via GSM module. For the proof of concept, we use Electric vehicle as demo model to implement the above system.
