Author Name : T. T. Basavanagouda, Rajani. A
ABSTRACT
The issue of economic empowerment is linked with the aspects like equality, liberty and fraternity. Economic empowerment of marginalized groups involves not only the process of creation of socio-political space for these groups by the state and civil society but also it is a process of liberation from man-made bondage through sustained struggle and resistance. Education is the most important social aspect for the economic development of any society. Low educational status of tribal community will adversely affect the socio-economic condition of the tribal people. In determining the empowerment of tribes, factors such as role in their educational status, their participation in social and political activities, their position in various professions etc can be considered. The present paper deals with the economic condition of the Jenukuruba tribal population based on the field study conducted in Mysore, Kodagu and Chamarajanagar districts by Karnataka State Tribal Research Institute, Mysuru.
