Effect of Bio Fertilizers (PGPB) on Germination and Seedling Growth of Okra Crop
Author Name : Kanupriya Chauhan, Deepti Chaudhary, Dr. Sonia Sharma, Dr. Alka Sagar
ABSTRACT
Experimental study was conducted to demonstrate the effects of biofertilizers on germination and growth parameters of okra crop. Soil sample and root nodules were collected from different crop fields of Meerut region and bacterial organisms were isolated by serial dilution technique. Total of 21 isolates have been chosen for further research, the isolates have been identified as Pseudomonas, Azotobacter, Rhizobium, Bacillus. Identification of the isolates was done chemically through performing different biocontrol test. The test performed was Ammonia production test, indole acetic acid test, catalase test, etc. Most of the isolates have shown positive result for all the tests performed. After performing the biochemical test, we had to find out the Effect of Isolated PGPB strains on the Okra crop under in- vitro conditions. All PGPR were tested for seed germination in which P14, P21, P8, P13, P17, P19 etc. isolates show the best germination percentage (80-90%) in comparison with the control and the seedling length of P7 (33cm) is the longest among them. In the pot experiment, after 50 days plants inoculated with PGPB P11 (30cm), P12 (29cm), P20 (29cm), P3 (30cm), P5 (32cm), P7 (33cm), P8 (30cm) show longer seedling length and growth as compared to the control one.
