ABSTRACT

Field experiment was conducted during kharif season of 2021 at School of Agriculture, Abhilashi University, Mandi to evaluate the suitable effect of integrated weed management on growth and yield of black gram (Vigna mungo L.). During the experimental period the variety of maize (PU-40) was sowed with eight treatments and three replications. The treatment consists of T1- weedy check, T2- weed free, T3 – pendimethalin @ 1.5 kg a.i. /ha (P.E), T4- pendimethalin @ 1.5 kg a.i. /ha(P.E) + quizalofop ethyl @ 50 kg a.i./ha (P.O.E) at 25 DAS, T5- pendimethalin @ 1.5 kg a.i./ha (P.E) + one hand weeding at 25 DAS, T6- quizalofop ethyl @ 50 kg a.i./ha (PoE) at 25 DAS + one hand weeding at 45 DAS, T7- one hand weeding at 25 DAS, T8- Two hand weeding at 25 and 45 DAS . In this study, weed free plots recorded significant improvement in growth parameters like emergence count, plant height, number of plants (per m2), number of leaves, dry matter accumulation (g/m2) and yields attributes like number of pods/plant, number of seeds/pod, test weight of seeds and significantly higher grain (780 kg/ha) & straw (1950 kg/ha) yields during the experiment.

Keywords: Integrated weed management, weed, herbicides, growth and yield attributes.
