Effect of Reinforcement on Property of Aluminium Metal Matrix Composite: A Review

ABSTRACT:  In recent time Metal Matrix composite have raised a keen interest in prospective material for diverse applications like aerospace, automobile transportation, defense, Marine, and sports industry due to having good physical, chemical and mechanical properties. At present modest attempt has been made to build up aluminum based matrix with objective to develop their efficiency by adding up several types of reinforcements. Reinforcements are used to improve their properties like stiffness, wear, creep, fatigue, machine ability, strength, low density, thermal shock resistance, corrosive resistance, etc. This paper shows the overview on the effect of adding together several different reinforcements in aluminum alloys and their merits and demerits. Major applications with poles apart type reinforcement are also mentioned in this work.
