Effectiveness of Growth Mind Set of Learners in Mathematics: A Review Study

ABSTRACT
The main aim of the present review study was to find out the effectiveness of growth mind set on learners in mathematics. Therefore, the related reviews of various studies on the various aspects of growth mindset and mathematics were collected from the various journals, thesis, dissertation, and project work etc. And total 19 research studies related with growth mindset and Mathematics were taken into consideration for the review study. Mindset is set of beliefs and everything we do in our life is related with our mindset. Mindset is milestone of the success in one’s life. Research suggested that mindset is that stage of thinking level of individuals, on the basis of that they can be divided into two parts, one is “Growth mindset” and another one is “Fixed mindset”. For this the study 45reviews were collected but as per the objectives of study fifteen related reviews were analysed. Also, the effect of mindset should be considered because effortless achiever may have different background so all the aspects should examine there. Intelligence is malleable not fixed. There are some strategies also suggested by the scholars of the filed for developing growth mindset among the learners such as language power (we should use inspirational and motivational language), effective praise and feedback (teacher should praise for student’s work and their efforts), expectations and challenge (there should be goal oriented activity so that challenges may be taken), not learn only concept but also be a master of skills, patience and consistency. One of the important things is that teacher should consider the previous behavior of the learner towards learning. Teacher should make conducive learning environment in the class. And also, every student should get equal opportunity for sharing their ideas. This thing may be done by collaborative and cooperative learning. Student is like growing plant, there should be effective care for his/her nature towards learning. There are so many factors which may affect the conclusions of this review study so but it’s difficult to note all these factors in a single study. Moreover, as we know that assessment is the main key to research and giving feedback to students for their better performance. There should be used more strategies for assessment and diagnose feedback. Moreover, whenever required specific data range should be taken also should consider the past behavior of the students.
