Effectiveness of Self Instructional Module on Knowledge Regarding Myths and Realities Ragarding Breast Feeding among Primigravida Mothers

ABSTRACT Background: There are innumerable myths about breastfeeding that minimize its importance; these often keep health workers from providing effective care to support and protect breastfeeding. They are compounded by lack of basic and applied research and by the cultural invisibility of breastfeeding. The aim of the study is to assess theeffectiveness of selfinstructional module on knowledge regarding myths and realities regarding breastfeeding among primigravida mothers. Methods: Pre experimental one group pretest-posttest design was selected for the study. The participants were 60 primigravida mothers of selected PHC area, Bangalore. A convenient sampling technique was used to select the sample of the study. A structured knowledge questionnaire was used to collect data from the subjects. The obtained data were analyzed by using descriptive and inferential statistics and interpreted in terms of objectives and hypotheses of the study. The level of significance was set at 0.05 levels.
