ABSTRACT

The global population of people aged 60 years and older will more than double, from 900 million in 2015 to about 2 billion in 2050 which explains the impertinent need for policymakers and related stakeholders in the domain to not only legislate but also have proactive monitoring expanse and ready-to-serve-community to elders. It is of no doubt that aging population in any country asks for strengthened care and expenditure, however, that also has a different and unique dimension of experience and respect. The facts foretell the depth and gravity of the situation. Around 1 in 6 people 60 years and older experienced some form of abuse in society. Rates of elder abuse are high in institutions such as nursing homes and long-term care facilities, with 2 in 3 staff reporting that they have committed abuse and let go of their medical practitioner’s oath and values.
