Author Name : Dr. R. Vashum
ABSTRACT
This paper is an attempt to examine how social movements emanate from ethnic lines of action based on historical and socio-political claims. The discourse will critically analyse on the ethnic movements and the nature of peace initiatives. It argues that the failure of the peace initiatives towards the desired result/s hinges on the nature of the peace initiatives and the approach of negotiation itself. It is also argued that settlement to the conflicts can be successful when there is peaceful negotiation with mutual respect and political will. Any kind of conclusion out of coercive decision would lead to failure. The data of this paper is derived from both primary and secondary sources.
