According to Thorndike and Hagen, “Evaluation of pupil progress is a major aspect of the teacher’s job. A good picture of where the pupil is and how he is progressing is fundamental to effective teaching by the teacher and to effective learning by the pupil.”  Hence, it is crystal clear that Evaluation plays vital role in achieving the major aim of Education in a broad perspective. A comprehensible picture of evaluation enables the teacher to understand various interconnected components of teaching learning process.
