Author Name : Monika Gupta, Vaibhav Saran, Munish Kr. Mishra, A.K. Gupta
ABSTRACT Blood is a highly complex mixture of cells, enzymes, proteins, and inorganic substances. Blood is the significant biological evidence commonly encountered by the investigators that can help an investigator to solve a crime. Criminals generally attempt to eliminate bloodstained evidence by washing it. There are many presumptive tests were used to detect the bloodstains on clothes after washing. In this study, bloodstained clotheswere washed with normal water and with available detergent. Tetra-methyl Benzidine and Luminol were used to detect the presence of blood on these washed clothes. The Luminol test was found to be most sensitive for detection of the washed stains on clothes. Teichmann’s test produces no crystal after washing. Number of washing of clothes with normal water and detergent also affects the retention of traces of blood stains from clothes. Thus, it becomes essential to determine the sensitivity of blood stains on different clothes. For individualization purposes, ABO blood grouping was done by the Mixed Agglutination Method. Cotton showed more pronounced result after washing with normal water and detergent.
