ABSTRACT
Excipients are the substance used as a medium to develop different formulation for giving a medicament. Binders are excipients employed to impart cohesiveness to the granules during table compaction and ensures the tablet remain intact after compression. The various new and potential excipients have been introduced as binding agent in tablet formulations and continue to the interest. This is because different binding agent can be useful in achieving various tablet mechanical strength & drug release properties for different pharmaceutical purpose. The excipients from natural sources such as different starch, gums and mucilage have been explored as binders which have shown remarkable binding capacity as well as some other properties like filler, disintegrant& natural polymers are safe & economical than expensive synthetic polymers.
