ABSTRACT Cancer starts when cells in the body begin to grow out of control. Cells in any part of the body can become cancer, and can spread to other areas of the body. Cervical cancer starts in the cells lining the cervix. The 2 main types of cells covering the cervix are squamous cells (on the exocervix) and glandular cells (on the endocervix). These 2 cell types meet at a place called the transformation zone. The main types of cervical cancers are squamous cell carcinoma and adenocarcinoma. Most of cervical cancers are squamous cell carcinomas. These cancers form from cells in the exocervix and the cancer cells have features of squamous cells under the microscope. Squamous cell carcinomas most often begin in the transformation zone (where the exocervix joins the endocervix).In India, cervical cancer contributes to approximately 6–29% of all cancers in women. In India, cancer of the cervix uteri is the 3rd most common cancer with an Incidence rate of 18.3% (123,907 cases) and the second leading cause of death with a mortality rate of 9.1% as per GLOBOCAN 2020.[1] The research design adopted for the study was descriptive research design. The sample size was 50. Patients selected by non-probability convenience sampling technique. Selfadministered structured questionnaire devised by the investigator was used to assess the knowledge on cervical cancer. The major findings of the study were, the overall status of the reproductive age group women. It is evident that none of the reproductive age group women had adequate knowledge, 36 {72.0%} of the subjects had moderately adequate knowledge and 14 {28.0%} had Inadequate knowledge on cervical cancer. With regard to the association, it is observed that there is statistically significant association with educational status established and no association could be established with the other demographic variables
