Feminine as a metaphor of water In Nangemakkutty and Lanthan Batheriyile Luthiniakal

ABSTRACT
The Metaphor of Water is used in literature all over the world to signify Femininity. In Malayalam Literature also this is evident in many works. In this paper, two works of literature belonging to two different genres are taken, viz., poetry and novel, where the water metaphor is used profusely to signify feminine experience. The significance of the poetry in question is that there is no physical waterbodies in and around the place where the events described in are taking place. The novel on the other hand is taking place in an imaginary island and it is thus surrounded by water. The question of feminine representation is addressed herewith.
