ABSTRACT

The term 'feminism' comes from the Latin word 'femina,' which means 'to have the traits of a woman.' It originally meant 'to have the qualities of a woman.' In the 1890s, it was replaced by womanism as a term for the movement for sexual equality and women's rights. It is defined by dictionaries as the advocacy of women's rights based on the belief in gender equality, and in its broadest word, it refers to anyone who is conscious of and seeking to end women's subordination to males. In 1837, a Utopian Socialist and French philosopher named Charles Fourier is credited with coining the word "feminist." Feminism refers to a set of movements and philosophies aimed at defining, achieving, and protecting women's equal political, economic, and social rights. This includes seeking to ensure that women have equal access to education and jobs.
