Formulation and Evaluation of Microsphere of Losartan Potassium Using Biodegradable Natural Polymers

ABSTRACT
The solvent evaporation process was used to make Losartan potassium laden microspheres The current study addresses the synthesis of microspheres by solvent evaporation, followed by in vitro characterization to assess the influence of the preparation process on the physical characteristics and drug release profile of microspheres. The microspheres were discovered to be distinct, spherical, and free-flowing. The size distribution of the particles, their entrapment effectiveness, and their release profiles were studied. When using the solvent evaporation method, the yield was determined to be the highest. The drug carrier interactions in the solid state of the microspheres formulation generated by solvent evaporation technique were examined using Fourier Transform Infrared (FT-IR) spectroscopy a microsphere's in vitro. Drug release rate was shown to be stable throughout a 24-hour period. In comparison to all other formulations, the formulation prepared by solvent evaporation method has the potential to deliver Losartan Potassium in a controlled and consistent manner over an extended period of time, and can be used for a successful oral delivery of Losartan potassium for the safe management of hypertension.
