Gender Role, Conflict, and Way Forward

Author Name : Sabujima Mahapatra

ABSTRACT

The growing gender gap in every possible field has contributed to rising conflicts in day-to-day life. In India, particularly, societal fabrics maintain their dominance to decide how a male and female should act, look, behave, educate, opine and emote. For instance, females are restricted within households, reproduction, and social functions, whereas males don't have a boundary between performing within. Ranging from social aspects to role ambiguities in every sphere, through different means, constructive and performative functions of women is being maintained without restoring their own individuality. Barring them from expressing themselves to questioning why they try to find their originality; these constructive norms somehow open the room for conflicts. The gender conflicts can only be normalized through the level analysis, from individual to international level, where the personal efforts would be able to assimilate with generous human responsibilities to upgrade the women's role and performance.
