Glaucoma Detection Using Fundus Images by Machine Learning

ABSTRACT
Glaucoma is a chronic eye disease that causes slow progressive retinal deterioration. If glaucoma is not discovered in its early stages, it can cause permanent blindness. It is the second leading cause of blindness in children. It cannot be completely treated, although its progress can be reduced if detected early. Unfortunately, due to the lack of distinct symptoms in the initial stages, early diagnosis is uncommon. Glaucoma damages the retina by affecting the Optic Nerve Head (OHN). Its diagnosis is based on the measurements of the Optic Cup (OC) and the Optic Tube (OT)The retinal disc (OD). This comprehensive review seeks to provide an overview of various existing strategies that employ machine learning to identify and diagnosis glaucoma based on fundus pictures, and we used Convolutional Neural Networks in this study (CNN).
