Identification of Potential Regions of Failure in Boiler Tube by Thermal Analysis Method
Author Name : Prof. V. Velmurugan, R. Amar Sundar, S. Dhivya Raj, K.S. Aravindh
ABSTRACT Boiler tubes are a pivotal part of a thermal power plant. Boiler tubes have become implausible for leakage detection through human inspection since they are inside the boiler. The Boiler needs to undergo a brief period of shutdown to ease the temperature conditions in order to carry out inspection. Human inspections always face a certain level of uncertainty. Boiler shutdowns and uncertain inspections carry a high degree of risk in both economical and physical aspect of a Boiler's efficiency. Moreover, Boiler explosions have become a major concern in thermal industries. Although acoustic detection paves way for early leakage warning, there is always a bridge between leakage detection time and identification time. The main aim of this paper is to identify the potential areas of rupture due to the thermal stress. The boiler tubes are modeled using Solid Works software package and the thermal structural analysis is done by ANSYS software.
