ABSTRACT

Modern ghost net debris and Fisheries Relationships are the main problems we face in the areas associated with them. With the increasing accumulation of plastic nylon-like ropes, nylon nets, ghost nets, plastics does increasingly dumped into the sea. Waste is losing life to the coral reefs on the ocean floor, and the coral-associated organisms are also affecting their lives with them. If this activity continues, marine ecosystems will be severely depleted soon and pose a threat to humankind. In a snorkelling survey around the Andrott Island Reef in the Arabian Sea of Lakshadweep, abandoned and lost fishing gears such as ghost nets, ropes, plastic net floats, traps, and nylon filaments does commonly found. These ghost nets can trap and kill sea creatures from the bottom or under the sea. The Andrott Island Reef Flat Current was solid and heavy at a depth of more than 10 meters. So these ghost nets can be dragged to the bottom by strong currents and winds and harm vulnerable creatures like corals.
