India-Pakistan and Its Devastating Impact upon HinduMuslim Relationship: A Postcolonial Study of Bapsi Sidhwa’s Novel Ice-Candy Man

ABSTRACT The purpose of this research paper is to demonstrate the postcolonial impact of Bapsi Sidhwa’s interesting novel, Ice-Candy Man. Sidhwa is a member of the Parsi community, and she freely admits to the isolation and aloofness that her community experiences. The novel's narrator is Lenny, the daughter of a well-to-do businessman. Her story begins in her fifth year and ends after her eighth birthday. Throughout the narration, she provides panoramic views of the current socioeconomic milieu. Sidhwa, being a Parsi, successfully delivers the novel’s story without bias or partisanship. The story is centered on India's division into two sovereign countries, India and Pakistan, and itsterrible influence on Hindu-Muslim relations, moral deterioration, sectarian rioting, the death of innocent people, the migration of thousands of people, and other issues. The novel's plot is told through the eyes of a kid narrator named Lenny, a Parsi girl
