Individual Career Aspirations in Context of Organizations Across Organized Retail Industry: An Empirical Study Based on Factor Analysis

ABSTRACT

The retail industry is getting organized, and youth is extensively seeking career opportunities. There is marked incidence of individual and organizational antecedents as responsible for the current state of human resource crises and strategic influx of uncertainty. The paper hence seeks to classify and identify the individual and organizational driven factors that seemingly impact the realization of youth’s career aspirations across retail formats. In turn the research established relationships amongst the factors that influence and shape up youth’s career aspirations in organized retail industry in North Indian perspective. The study explored the impact of individual based meta-career competencies (measured by factors “entrepreneurial mindset” and “occupational expertise”) on shaping of “individual retail-based career aspirations”. The organizational climate as the contextual aspect was explored with aid of “workplace embeddedness”, “organizational support for career development” and “workplace learning”. In association the factor of “realized retail career aspirations” was explored as the dependent aspect. The research-based objectives were achieved.
