Kinetic profiling of β-amylases obtained from different sources

ABSTRACT

Biochemical pathways are unbiased systems spread across all the domains of life. What really is fascinating and mind-troubling is the intricacies and specificities of these physiologies. In our study, we designed experimental systems to study kinetic nature of β-amylase. Primarily, we screened all the different sources for presence to rule out improper extraction and confirmed sources were further processed for kinetic studies. The standard colorimetric way using starch as a substrate with defined optimum pH conditions was how the experiment was led.  Different sources provided different kinetic profiles and comparisons were drawn.
