Knowledge, and Its Transformation and Detrimental Impact on Development

Author Name : Kandasamy Sathiyasegar

ABSTRACTS This study aims to explain the cyclical process of knowledge and human growth/development and considers four processes: capitalism ideology, knowledge processing, end of reasoning and growth/development. This study demonstrates the importance of knowledge creation that contributes to human progress, which is thought to hinge on developments in both material and non-material facets, especially within advanced industrial and technologydriven capitalist societies. This paper hence explores that the growth of knowledge is increasingly being used for self-centered benefits beyond the benefit of a society as a whole that result in social and human issues like poverty, war/conflicts, environmental degradation, etc. Indicatively, developing and underdeveloped countries are negatively affected by the science and technological advancements that leads to imbalances between nations, regions, societies, and communities. Therefore, this study question about the meaning of 'development' or 'human progression' in terms of advancement, thus also questioning the concept of ‘human civilization’. In this context, this study demonstrates that uncivilized activities and events dominate as development in the existing world order.
