Language Identification Systems: A Review

ABSTRACT

Language identification refers to the process of identifying a speaker's language from an utterance. Language identification systems are categorized using feature extraction methods from speech samples, database collection strategies, and classification algorithms. The database is a crucial component of language identification systems. Therefore, all phases of system development, from collection of databases to extraction of featuresand further for classification, should be taken into account in order to create an effective language identification system. A survey of the numerous databases used in the field of Indian LID systems is what this study aims to do. This report also provides a list of other databases that can be used to determine languages.Several Feature extraction techniques also addressed in this paper.
