Measurement of dielectric parameters of turmeric powder at microwave frequency

Author Name : Dr. P. G. Gawali, Dr. H. K. Undegavkar, Dr. A. S. Kulkarni

ABSTRACT

The dielectric parameters of a turmeric (curcuma longa linn) powder were measured at different relative packing factor (δr) and temperatures (20oC, 30oC, 40oC and 50oC) at 9.85 GHz microwave frequency. These experimentally measured values of turmeric powder are used to obtain transformation 100% solid bulk using Landau – Lifshitz – Looyenga and Bottcher formulae. The fair agreement is found between experimental and calculated values for solid bulk. It proves accurate estimate of dielectric values of turmeric form powdered materials and there was a change of dielectric parameters at various bulk densities and temperatures.
