Mental Health Status of Intermediate Students in Chittoor District of Andhra Pradesh: An Exploratory Study

ABSTRACT ‘Health is Wealth’ and ‘Sound Mind in a Sound body’. This statement demonstrates how crucial health is to each and every one of us. A healthy individual can fully enjoy life. A person who is in good physical and mental health is considered to be in good health. Both his body and mind were functioning well. Both mental and physical wellbeing is interdependent. A mentally healthy individual is balanced in personality, well-adjusted, and physically fit. Mental health demonstrates an individual's ability to adapt to their surroundings. The cornerstone of happiness and efficient functioning for both an individual and a community is mental health. Mental Health which today recognized as an important aspect of one's total health status is a basic factor that contributes to maintain physical health as well as effectiveness. Mind is the basic in all out activities. If the mind is not healthy, our behavior is found to be undesirable in persons in society who don't behave like normal individual such persons become not only a burden to society but also other have to protect themselves from their behavior. Mental health issues can seriously impair a student's ability to learn and study. Significant stressors are linked to intermediate education, such as the emotional strain of moving from a home and school to a less regimented college setting, the need for independent study and test-taking and financial constraints. Students' mental health issues can have a major negative impact on their education and emotional growth, as well as occasionally on other students and the educational setting. Concerns regarding the mental health of intermediate school pupils are becoming more prevalent. The mental health of students has also received particular media attention in recent years.
