Physical Kinetic Study of Oxidation of Substituated Anilines By N-Chlorosaccharin In Aqeous Acetic Medium

Author Name : Pawan Kumar Verma, S. S. Saket, H. P. Dwivedi, Vivek Kumar Verma

ABSTRACT

Kinetic study of oxidation of sub situated aniline by N-chlorosaccharin (NCSA) in aqeous acetic medium has been studied iodometrically at 298 K. The ionic strength of the medium was maintained by using sodium chlorite. The reaction is first order with respect to substituated aniline. It has been observed that the reaction rate is not affected by changes in ionic strength of the reaction medium. However, addition of saccharin causes a decrease in the rate of reaction. Thermodynamic and activation parameters have also been evaluated. Based on the kinetic results a suitable mechanism has been proposed for the oxidation of substituated anilines by NCSA.
