Physiotherapy System for Paraplegia Patients

ABSTRACT Physiotherapy system for paraplegia patients is constructed to perform continuous exercise for the paralyzed legs by means of plane manipulation mechanism using linear actuator and lower limbs supporting system. Linear actuator used to convert rotational motion into linear motion. Leg exercise for the patients is manually performed by physiotherapist to stimulate the damaged tissues and cells but they could not effectively perform their operation for a long period of time due to limitation in their physical abilities. So that we constructed a system to help physiotherapist to effectively perform their operation for a long period of time and also perform rehabilitation process for the paralyzed legs. Repeated and effective leg movements can be achieved by means of linear actuator, simultaneous and continuous operations can be produced by this system. Smooth and slow movements can be performed effectively by means of this physiotherapy system.
