Phytochemical Investigation and Development of HPTLC Fingerprint Profile of Onion (Allium cepa)

ABSTRAC Allium cepa is one of the most important condiment plants grown the consumed all over the globe. In the present study the phytochemical analysis of onion skin extracts was done. The results of the study indicated the presence of tannins, flavonoids and other metabolites in ehtanolic and aqueous extract of sample. The presence of different phytochemical compounds contributed to the staining ability of the extract. This paper mainly deals with the collection of plants the extraction of active compounds from the various parts of the plant, qualitative and quantitative analysis of the phytochemical. As use concluded, that onion bulb can contribute to human health as an antimicrobial as well as alternative source of nutritional supplements and usdyin the management and prevention of several nutritionally related diseases and disorders.
