ABSTRACT Over the past three decades, PLGA nanoparticles have gained attention as a carrier system for therapeutically active agents, owing to their unique characteristics, including biocompatibility, bio-degradability, , low toxicity and lack of immune system activation. there are certain limitations associated with PLGA-based NPs which restrict its applications includes, poor drug loading, leakage during storage and high burst release of drug. Novel polymer -oil -nanohybrid system (PONHs) is a novel approach in which highly lipophilic drug pre-solubilized in oil phase is dispersed in polymeric matrix. This hybrid system integrates the advantages of lipid-based and polymeric colloidal carriers. In this nanosystem, inclusion of oil improves encapsulation of highly lipophilic drugs whereas polymeric matrix provides uniform size and good stability.
